You can either use the following conversation or develop your own taking ideas from it:

Friend A: Hey don’t you think this homework is irrelevant? It adds to academic burden, doesn’t it?

Friend B: I agree with you that homework adds to the burden of students, but there is another side to it also. The rationale behind giving homework to students is encouraging them to do self-study.

Friend A: But you look at it from students’ perspective. Each teacher thinks only he is giving the homework; at the end the student gets homework of all the subjects, which requires a lot of time. He is not left with any time to play!

Friend B: This problem is there. That’s why not many students like homework. This becomes really very arduous when all the teachers give homework on the same day. However, the Education Ministry has instructed new instructions according to which only as much homework should be given to students as is doable easily. There are clear instructions on reducing the burden of students of all types, be it a heavy bag or heavy academics.

Friend A: Really! I did not know it! Why do then our teachers of all subjects give us heavy homework every day? Don’t they know these rules?

Friend B: I think they know, but they take for granted that the other teachers might not have given us the homework! I think each school has a time-table for homework also; and each teacher should give homework according to the time table.

Friend A: It is a good idea. Only one or two subjects’ homework should be given to students. Then they will have enough free time to play and have fun, which is so essential for their proper growth and development.
