Friend A: Yes, he was. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, remembered as iron man of India was a great man, visionary statesman, and pure patriot of India. He was the first Deputy Prime Minster of India. He not only played a pivotal role in the India’s struggle for independence, but also played the most crucial role in uniting India after independence.
Friend B: How did he unite India?
Friend A: Under his leadership, India integrated as many as 565 self-governing princely states. He is known as the ‘Unifier of India’. His strategy and endeavor to unify Jammu and Kashmir, Junagadh, and Hyderabad were commendable. If he had not acted promptly, these territories would have been annexed to Pakistan.
Friend B: That’s great. He was really a great leader. Why was the statue dedicated on October 31 only? Any special reason?
Friend A: Yes, October 31 is his birthday. The statue is a tribute to the great son of India from the current Government.
