=> Here, we heat Bromoethane with a Heavy Metal Fluoride such as HgF (Mercurous fluoride) , SbF3 (Antimony fluoride) or Argentous Fluoride (AgF).

Reactants:

Bromoethane (ethyl bromide) and Silver fluoride (AgF) .

Products:

Fluoroethane (ethyl fluoride) and Silver bromide (AgBr).

Conditions:

=> The Heavy metal fluoride must be heated well for this reaction to proceed. It must be of sufficient purity.

Equation:

                           Δ (Heat)

C2H5Br + AgF -------------> C2H5F + AgBr
