Because they are good conductors of electricity and help in the fluid flow of current through them.

Copper (Cu) and Aluminum (Al) are good conductors of electricity.

That means their resistance to electric current is minimal as their resistance is less they tend to let electricity pass through them easily.

Therefore they are generally employed for electricity transmission.
