Answer :

Critical angle of medium = 60°

We have to find speed of light in this medium.

◈ First of all we need to find refractive index of the medium.

Relation between critical angle of medium and refractive index is given by

  • η = 1 / sin C

➝ η = 1 / sin 60°

➝ η = 1 / (√3/2)

η = 2/√3

◈ Refractive index of medium is defined as the ratio of speed of light in vacuum to speed of light in medium.

  • η = c / v

value of c = 3×10^8 m/s

⇒ 2/√3 = 3×10^8/v

v = 3√3/2 × 10^8 m/s
