Cucumber is a creeping vine which bears cucumiform fruits which are used as vegetables. It is a widely cultivated plant which belongs to the gourd family. It roots in the ground and can also root in a soilless medium. It wraps around supports and grows up trellises. If there is no support it can sprawl along the ground.
