Answer:

\sf\huge\green{\underbrace{\red{Answer↓}}}:\huge{\fcolorbox{gold}{Red}{Popsicles = 16}}

\huge{\fcolorbox{gold}{Red}{Chocolates = 13}}

Step-by-step explanation:

 \huge \underline \mathfrak\color{red} {Given,}

  • Cost of each bag of popsicles = $4
  • Cost of each bag of chocolates = $2
  • He earns a total of $90
  • No. of bags of popsicles sold is 3 more than that of the bags chocolates

 \huge \underline \mathfrak\color{red} {To\:Find,}

  • No. of bags sold of each type by David

 \huge \underline \mathcal \color{red} {Procedure,}

Since, no. popsicles bags sold is 3 more than chocolates,

90 - 3 \times 4

 = 90 - 12

 = 78

Therefore, $78 is left to be divided between popsicles and chocolates.

Now we will find the amount of money got by selling popsicles and chocolates

Given that, ratio of the cost of popsicles bag to chocolates bag is 4:2

Let money earned from-

  • popsicles bags be 4x
  • popsicles bags be 4x chocolates bags be 2x

4x + 2x = 78

6x = 78

x =  \frac{78}{6}

x = 13

popsicles = 4x \\   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:= 4 \times 13 \\  =52

chocolates = 2x \\   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: = 2 \times 13 \\  = 26

Therefore, David got

  • $52 from Popsicles bags (of $78)
  • $26 from chocolates bags (of $78)

We had $12 that was earned from Popsicles (see first calculation part)

Therefore, Total money earned from-

  • Popsicles = $52+$12 = $64
  • Chocolates = $26

Since,

  • cost of each Popsicles bag was $4

 \therefore \: total \: bags \:of \: popsicles \: sold  = 64 \div 4  = 16

  • cost of each chocolates bag was $2

 \therefore no. \: of \: choco \: bags \: sold = 26 \div 2  = 13

Therefore,

  • No. of popsicles bag sold is 16
  • No. of chocolates bag sold is 13.
