‘Electronic gadgets make present generation disconnected with each other’
Good morning everyone present. I feel immensely privileged to have got the opportunity to express my views on ‘Electronic gadgets make present generation disconnected with each other’; I am going to speak in favor of the motion.
There is no denying the fact that technology has adversely affected our way of life and everything associated with it; internet, TV, smart-phones, tabs, laptops, etc. have affected almost each and every aspect of our life. Social bonding and family ties and linkages are no exception. Before the advent of social media revolution, people had plenty of time. All the members would often sit together at the dining table and have their meals exchanging anecdotes, happenings and ideas. They would often converse with one another in thousands of way, using different words and structures. This improved their conversation skills. Same was the case with friends and relatives. However, the advent of social media has deprived them of this interaction.
Social media and networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and general internet browsing have become source of major distractions for everyone. They seem to have become inordinately addicted to these sites. The irony of the situation is in spite of being physically close they are miles apart mentally and socially. Glued to their smart-phones or laptops, they prefer to remain enclosed in their own rooms. Even if they come to the dinner table, they are focused on their devices, ignoring the other members sitting at the table next to them.
They are thoughtlessly and uselessly wasting their precious time on these sites. Wise people say time well utilized is time well spent, but the youth of today is only and only wasting time on chatting, messaging, uploading photographs and modifying profiles. The smart phones and 4G connections have made the situation worse. Accessing such sites has become so easy that young boys and girls are using these sites almost everywhere and almost all the time.
The parents, teachers and the government must look into the problems being caused by these networking sites and must formulate a strategy either to curb or completely stop its fast growing negative influence on the minds of our youth. I strongly feel that we must encourage our children to use technology only moderately. The elders too must set a good example in front of the children. The children need to be taught the family values. Some regulatory policies must be made to wean the youngsters off the addiction to technological wonders.
The increase in the use of Electronic gadgets nowadays symbolize the standardization of classes as well as rising modernity and innovation and technology becoming available for use to all.
Electronic gadgets have existed for some time now, however, their excessive use by the present generation leads to certain reservations on part of parents because of the disadvantages which accompany the existing benefits.
Indeed, technological advancements have led to electronic gadgets being available for all. When children use these gadgets, it leads to the sharp activity of the mind, as to children play problem solving games and that leads to exercise of the brain. It some people of this generation it leads to a platform being available for introverts who use electronic gadgets to make virtual friends and online friends. The use of electronic gadgets tend to become a necessity as everyone uses this for communication and storage of data in mobile and durable form.
However, multiple disadvantages accompany the usage of such devices. For instance, it leads to obesity, laziness, obsessiveness of use of such gadgets, rising dependency, lack of physical exercise, plagiarism, cheating, theft, cyber crimes, etc.
One of the main issues of use of such gadgets is that people tend to drift apart from each other. Considering how electronic gadgets which accommodate social media apps were made with the purpose of connecting people, its become a paradox. It is certainly, ironic how phones are used to communicate with people, but it leads to laziness which is why people people would rather call from one room to another, instead of getting up walking over to the other room.
