That means “the number of people who die doubles.”The World Health Organization on Saturday reported 414 new U.S. cases, up from 277 cases diagnosed the day before. The total number is 1,678.

Gowers, the U.K. professor, acknowledged it may be difficult for people to understand how the virus can spread exponentially. But everyone knows how to take precautions, he said.
