a) Ionic bond----->
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The bonds which are formed by the transfer of electrons between a metal and a non-metal is called ionic bond.

b) Covalent bond--->
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The bonds which are formed by the sharing of electron pairs between non-metals is called covalent bond.

c) Co-ordinate bond--->
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A type of covalent bond in which both the shared electrons are contributed by one of the two atoms is called co-ordinate bond.


d) Metallic bond--->
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The force of attraction between valence electrons and the metal atoms is called metallic bond.
