After decades of flip flop, India's foreign policy finally seems to have become one of the main concerns of the Government at the Centre. Because of the globalised world that we live in, it has become increasingly important that India develop its foreign policy keeping in mind its aspirations in the world order. Under Prime Minister Modi, India's foreign policy has undergone a rejig with India looking to build its soft power internationally. The various projects that India has been undertaking in countries around the world, be it construction of the Parliament in Afghanistan or distribution of medicines in Africa, all actions cement India's place and even advance it at the top of the international political ladder. The two main borders concerns, China and Pakistan are also being dealt with. The recent cross border strikes India has carried out against Pakistan show that the spineless attitude of the past has no place in the future to come. India's decision to exert international pressure on Pakistan by dragging it to the ICJ shows maturity and depth of thought. With regards to China, India seems to have adopted a neutral position regarding the South China Sea, although it did flex its muscles with its strategic partner, Japan, as a show of strength.
Therefore, India's foreign policy as of this moment looks to consolidate India's position in the global order and even advance it as India seeks an increasingly important role internationally.
