Characteristics of physics change,

  1. No new, substances are formed.
  2. Physical change are temporary change.
  3. A physical change make cause changes in state, size, shape and colour of a substance.
  4. The change is reversible.
  5. A physical change doesn't involve any exchange of energy.

Examples,

➲ Freezing of water

Ice on gaining heat from atmosphere melts to give liquid water. We can easily get back the water, when the ice is melted. The heat lost during freezing and gained during melting. Therefore, it is a temporary and reversible change. No change in mass occur.

➲ Tearing of paper

When, a paper is torns it forms many pieces. Each pieces of the paper is still paper. Therefore, no new substances is formed.

Some more examples are,

Sublimation of iodine, Drying of wet clothes, Melting of wax, Stretching of a rubber band.
