 \textbf {Evolution}

The gradual changes that occur in an organism with the passage of time are a part of evolution of that species. Changes can occur due to several factors like:

⏺️ GEOGRAPHICAL ISOLATION
When a population is divided into two or more groups due to Geographical barriers.

⏺️NATURAL SELECTION
In natural selection, the nature selects the organism in a population. The organisms which are fit survive, while the organisms which are unfit, eliminate from the population.

⏺️GENETIC DRIFT
When an accident occurs in a population, it's gene frequency changes leading to changes in the organisms of future generations.

 \textbf {Fossils} :

The dead remains of plants, animals and other organisms buried deep inside the earth's crust since millions of years which give evidences of evolution are termed as Fossils.

For example, Archaeopteryx has the features of both a bird, and a repltile which tells us that, both the organisms have evolved from a common ancestor. In the same way, Fossils help providing us evidences in support of evolution.
