Langar System:
- Langar is the word used in Sikhism for the public kitchen in a Gurdwara where a free meal is given to all the guests, without distinction of religion, caste, gender, economic status or civilization. The free meal is always vegetarian.
- Every Gurdwara has a Langar close to it where food is given and served to anyone without any charge. The term Langar is also used for the shared meal served at the Gurdwaras. This safeguards that any visitor to the Gurdwara, whatever the dietary limits of their faith, can eat in the Langar
