Nome = Name; Calere = To Call): The term nomenclature means the scientific naming of organisms according to an established system. The naming of plants on a scientific basis is called botanical or plant nomenclature.

Nomenclature is the standardised naming of living organisms that lead to this universal naming system.

Nomenclature is further classified into two types, such as :-

*Vernacular naming system - This is based upon naming of organisms by the use of common or local languages.

*Scientific naming system - this system further included the polynomial Nomenclature, trinomial Nomenclature and the binomial system of Nomenclature.
