Operant conditioning

Explanation:

Operant or instrumental conditioning is learning through reinforcements in the form of rewards or punishments. This is done by associating a voluntary behavior with specific consequences.

To increase the occurrence of a positive behavior, rewards are given. This theory was proposed by B. F. Skinner.

Determinants of operant conditioning are:

Type of reinforcement: positive with rewards increases positive behavior; negative with punishment avoids negative behavior

Number of reinforcement: the number of attempts or trials made during reinforcement

Schedule of reinforcement: involves schedule of delivery of reinforcement

Delayed reinforcement: a delay in reinforcement can influence the effectiveness of the reinforcement
