❄Consumption of Oxygen

1. Respiration : Oxygen is used by living organisms for oxidation of glucose and other organic substance in order to liberate energy.

2. Combustion : Burning of fuels in homes, in vehicles and in industries require oxygen to obtain energy. Hence, oxygen is essential for combustion of fuel.

3. Atmospheric fixation of nitrogen : Atmospheric nitrogen combines with atmospheric oxygen to produce nitrogen oxide the energy liberated during lightning is used for it.

4. Decay : Decay and decomposition of organic matter is also an aerobic process that is it occurs in the presence of Oxygen.

❄Oxygen is essential for sustenance of life, as it is required for process of respiration. However the elemental oxygen is Lethal and poisonous in certain life forms. example anaerobic bacteria in fact even the process of nitrogen fixation by bacteria does not take place in presence of oxygen.
