Dear Student,

● Refractive index -

• Refractive index is the ratio of the velocity of light in a vacuum to its velocity in a specified medium. n = c/v

• By Snell's law, n = sini/sinr

• Refractive index of medium 1 wrt medium 2 is represented by n12. i.e. n12 = n1/n2

◆ Unit of refractive index -

• Refractive index is ratio of two similar quantities. Hence, it doesn't have any unit.

● Refractive index of glass & water -

• Refractive index of glass is more than that of water.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
