The persistence of sound due to repeated reflection of sounds is called reverberation.
Excessive reverberation is highly undesirable as the sound becomes blurred, distorted and confusing due to overlapping of sounds.
To reduce reverberation :
1) The walls and roofs of theatre halls are covered with sound absorbing material like compressed fiber board, draperies.
2) Seat materials are chosen to absorb sound in cinema halls, concert halls
