A solenoid is a device which converts energy into linear motion. This energy may come from an electromagnetic field, air-powered chamber or a fluid-filled cylinder. Solenoids are commonly found in electric bell assemblies, automotive starter systems, industrial air hammers and many other devices which rely on a sudden burst of power to move a specific part.

_____
Uses:
_____

1. Used in the electromagnets.

2. Open or Close valves.

3. As a voice coil in the speakers.

4. In relay to control electric current.

Aartikumari1: Thanks for giving answer but plzz define the solenoid few more if u can

Dear questioner, you can write this as a definition of a solenoid:
A solenoid is a device formed by wounding a coil around a soft iron core, such that the diameter of the coil is negligible as compared to the total length of the device.
