Hello!!

There are totally three famous laws stated by newton.

The first law of motion is also called " Galileo's law of inertia " or " the law of inertia".

First of all, what is this strange word called " inertia".?

In our day to day life, many things will be in motion and rest. When they are in motion or rest, they cannot easily change their position until or unless an external force is applied.

let's take an example...

while you are travelling in bus, when a bus driver suddenly applies breakes, You will fall forward. why so? This is because of inertia. And, when you are at rest in bus and if the driver suddenly starts the bus, you will slightly move backward. it means that, you are not ready to change your position until the external force like breaks are applied. "Inertia is the natural ability of a body to be in rest or in uniform motion, until or unless an external force is acting on it".

Can also be said as,

Objects which are at rest will be at rest and the objects which are in motion, will be in motion until or unless an external unbalanced force is applied on it.

Hope it helps!!

Newton first law of motion
Any object remains in the state of the rest or in uniform motion along a straight line , unless and until to change the state by applying external force.
For example:- The table is in the rest will not change until we will not apply the force towards it.
