When two or more resistors are connected simultaneously between two points to each other then the resistors are said to be connected in parallel combination.

--- Characteristics of parallel combination:-

    (i) The reciprocal of equivalent resistance is equal to the sum of the reciprocal of individual resistances.

   (ii) The equivalent resistance is less than the resistance of the either resistor. This is also known as the minimum effective resistance.

  (iii) The current from the source is greater than the current through either resistor.

  (iv) The potential difference across each resistor is same.
