Displacement- the maximum or shortest distance between initial and final position. it is a vector quantity ...eg an object is travelling his distance from A,B and C so when it will travel straight from Ato C .then the AC will be the displacement of the object..

Distance-total path length covered by an object. it is a scaler quantity ..
eg- as above example if. an object will cover A,B,C so ABC will be its distance ..

Hope its helpful!!

  • ☛Distance is a scalar quantity that refers to "how much ground an object has covered" during its motion. Displacement is a vector quantity that refers to "how far out of place an object is"; it is the object's overall change in position.
  • ☛Displacement is the measurement of the length of the shortest path from the initial point to the final point. ... Distance is a scalar quantity whereas displacement is a vector quantity. Distance is the total path covered by the body and displacement is the shortest path covered by the body.
  • ☛ Velocity is the rate of change of displacement.
