  • Magnetic susceptibility is a proportionality constant which is a dimensionless properties of any material.
  • Magnetic susceptibility states the degree of magnetization of a material in respect to an applied magnetic field.
  • Permeability is the property of material in which a material is tried to form a magnetic field within itself.
  • The measure of this ability to form magnetic field is known as permeability.

Relation of magnetic susceptibility and relative magnetic permeability is-

xm = μ / μ₀ - 1

where xm is the magnetic susceptibility, μ is the permeability of the specific medium and μ₀ is a magnetic constant.
