Recombinant DNA (rDNA) molecules are DNA molecules formed by laboratory methods of genetic recombination (such as molecular cloning) to bring together genetic material from multiple sources, creating sequences that would not otherwise be found in the genome.

Dear Student,

◆ Recombinant DNA -

  • DNA formed by joining together of DNA molecules from two different species is recombinant DNA.
  • Generation and multiplication of recombinant DNA is called rDNA technology.

◆ Steps in rDNA technology -

  1. Isolate vector plasmid and human DNA
  2. Insert human DNA into plasmid
  3. Put plasmids into host bacteria by transformation
  4. Multiplication of rDNA molecules
  5. Host cell divides
  6. Identify clone carrying DNA of interest

Thanks dear. Hope this is helpful to you ..
