Upper air circulation refers to streams of air that flow at he higher altitudes of the atmosphere. They flow at the top of the troposphere and generally blow in westerly direction. The Ferrel. Hadley and Polar circulation are associated with upper air circulation.

The western cyclonic disturbances are weather phenomena of the winter months brought in by the westerly flow from the mediterranean region.

western disturbance is the low pressure system that originates over the Mediterranean sea and moves eastwards. This causes rainfall in Iran,Pakistan, and India and snowfall in some parts of India.

the high pressure area is formed over the Mediterranean sea and there  is a low pressure area  developed over the states of  punjab ,H.P , ,so the winds move from  hidh pressure area to low prressure area.. these winds are moisture laiden winds and they give rainfall to states of punjab ,. H.P and snowfall to the states of jammu and kashmir . these rainfall is usefulll for cultivation of crops and is known as western disturbances

upper air circulation
The term "upper-air disturbance" appears occasionally in the Observatory's weather forecast. Do you know what kind of weather system it refers to and how it affects our weather?
western cyclonic disturbance
A Western Disturbance is an extratropical storm originating in the Mediterranean regionthat brings sudden winter rain to the northwestern parts of the Indian subcontinent. It is a non-monsoonalprecipitation pattern driven by the westerlies. The moisture in these storms usually originates over the Mediterranean Sea and theAtlantic Ocean.
