Work =force x displacement
When the direction of displacement is along the direction of force it is positive work
When opposite to the direction of force it is negative work for
When force acts perpendicularly to the direction of displacement
Or when no force acts on a body
Or the displacement. Is zero
it is called zero work

Hey!

Work down by a force acting on an object is equal to the product of force and the displacement of object in the direction of the object.
Work done = Force × Displacement
SI unit of work done - joules (J)
• Work done by a force is positive when the force acts in the same direction as that of displacement.
•Work done is negative when force acts opposite to the direction of the displacement.
• Work done is zero if there is no displacement in the direction of force , that is, force perpendicular to displacement, also if there is no displacement, work done is zero.
