According to the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995, section 2 (i), Disability means:
1. Blindness - Visually impaired
2. Low vision
3. Leprosy Cured
4. Hearing impairment
5. Locomotor Disability
6. Mental Retardation
7. Mental Illness
The Act proposes “Equal Opportunities Protection of Rights and Full Participation”.
According to the section 2 (t) of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995, any person who is suffering from not less than 40% of any of the above disability, as certified by a proper medical authority is considered as a “Person with disability”.
There are different sections of the act, proposing varying details regarding the work options and opportunities for the different types of disabilities.
