Swadeshi Movement involved boycotting British goods and promoting Indian goods. It began with the Partition of Bengal in 1905. It had some major effects in India.
When people started boycotting foreign goods, the demand for Indian goods went up, especially cloth. This came as a boon for Indian textile mills in Bombay and Ahmedabad. In Bengal, coarse cloth was produced which was the tradition there. Although coarse, people wore the cloth in spirit of the Swadeshi.
