The future is a poem written by the famous Bohemian-Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rike born in 1875. Each line in this poem has truth behind it. ‘The future: time’s excuse to frighten us’ in truth the future is something that we all fear in some shape or form. Time is constant as the future will always arrive upon your feet. ‘Future, who won’t wait for you?’ true again as nearly every being on this earth waits for what they hope is a better world and a better future. Only those who fear it severely hope for the future to never arrive. ‘Everyone is going there’, it is in fact true as everyone moves in the direction of the future or the future comes to you and it is our choices that determine what kind of future that we will be part of. The last line ‘It suffices you to deepen the absence that we are’ tries to tell us that the future is like an empty space which is the absence inside of us that we can never really understand fully. One’s vision may change in time to adjust their hopes and dreams.
