The angle of banking can be defined as the angle at which any vehicle becomes inclined around its longitudinal axis with respect to the horizontal. To make the vehicle safer on a curved road, the outer edge is raised above than the inner edge. This makes the road inclined and known as banking of road and this angle is termed as angle of banking.

Factors on which Angle of Banking depends:

It depends upon centripetal force. This force is needed for circular motion of any vehicle. This force is in direct relationship with the speed of vehicle.

Another factor that is necessary is friction. Without proper friction, the vehicle would not stop in case of curved road. But sometimes due to excessive rains, there is not proper friction on the roads. To eradicate this difficulty, the roads are banked..
