Describe an activity to show the relation between the force of friction and the nature of the surfaces in the contact

Take an object and tie it with a spring balance. Now take two(smooth and rough) surfaces. Drag the object while it is still attached to the spring balance on the smooth surface. Observe the reading of the spring balance. Perform this experiment again while taking the rough surface this type. The observations would be different as the magnitude of frictional force applied on the object would be more in the case of a rough surface.
