Heya!

Here is your answer!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a trait they coconut palm developed over ages of evolution. Combined with the traits that allow the coconuts to float, land on new beaches and then germinate into a new tree, there are clear advantages to these evolutionary derived traits.

Evolution predicts that a species will under go many variations and that the traits that provide advantage to survival or propagation will spread flourish. Clusters of new traits in sub-populations eventually lead to speciation, where the original species (usually still continuing on) and the new species diverge and play the game of "survival of the fittest" without further aiding each other through genetic exchange.

There are many sorts of palm trees. Not all of them lean. These are because they are different species with adaptations that suit the environmental niches each palm variety found itself succeeding in.

Hope it helps
