Its function is to carry oxygen from lungs to each cell of the body and transport the carbon dioxide released back to the lungs.Basically its function is to transport O2 and CO2 and help in respiration.

Functions of blood :

• Blood transports oxygen, nutrients ,hormones etc. to every part of the body.

• It collects wastes from every part of the body.

• It helps in thermoregulation ,water balance and maintenance of pH of body.

• RBCs help in the transport of respiratory gases from lungs to tissues and back.

• WBCs are the soldiers of our body.
They help to fight disease by engulfing and destroying foreign bodies by producing antibodies and antitoxins.

• Blood platelets help in the clotting of blood at the site of the injury.
