Himadri :

Also known as
"GREAT OR INNER HIMALAYAN"

It is the most continuous range. The northmost range is called himadri. It consists of loftiest peaks with average height of 6,000 metres. It consists or contain all prominent peaks. It remains snow covered through out the year, resulting into the formation of glaciers and some perennial rivers.

Himadri Station is India's first Arctic research station located at Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway. It is located at the International Arctic Research base, Ny-Ålesund. It was inaugurated on the 1st of July, 2008 by the Minister of Earth Sciences. It was set up during India's second Arctic expedition in June 2008. It is located at a distance of 1,200 kilometres from the North Pole.
