- Population pressure on land due to huge population of India
- Lack of modernisation makes it monsoon dependent. Monsoon is a natural occurance thus it is unreliable and can lead to losses.
- Soil erosion and degradation by natural and man-made causes.
- Old traditional cultivation methods. Tools like hoe, dao etc.
- Other human factors like poverty, fragmented land, lack of security incase of accidents.
