The nucleus of the ovule forms megaspore in flowering plants or gymnosperms.
When a megaspore forms from its mother cell, the process of its formation is called megasporogenesis.
The megaspore which is functional forms two embryo sacs at two ends of the nuclei, and keeps dividing until they form 8-nucleate.
