Setup a circuit that posses current and then put a compass beside circuit and when will closed the circuit then you will find deflection in compass

Explanation:

A current carrying conductor produces a magnetic field around it. The direction of current can be determined by right hand thumb rule. If we curl a finger around a wire, such that the thumb is pointing to direction of current then the magnetic field lines take the direction in which our fingers curl the wire.  \text { Magnetic field }=\frac{\mu I}{4 \pi r}.

Where I is the current flowing through the wire and r is the distance of magnetic field from the current carrying conductor, hence "the magnetic field is directly proportional to current and inversely proportional to distance".
