In Arabic, Seif means sword .Such sand dunes are narrow and spread to a long distance.
They resemble swords and are therefore named so.They are parallel to the direction of the wind blowing.
They taper towards the wind direction Their slopes are somewhat symmetrical and crests are sharp.
In Rub-al-khali desert of Saudi Arabia and desert in Iran , Seif are visible even up to 200 km.
