The air would get colder and thinner as you moved upwards to the summit from the base. if your body is not conditioned to the changes in climate and increased elevation, you will find it hard to breathe and function properly. your ears will 'pop' as you increase your elevation due to the liquid in your equilibrium being displaced. it will level out as your body adjusts to the difference in elevation. it has been known for people to pass out on these types of hikes because there body could not handle the elements, some have even died. your body needs to be able to adjust slowly hence, staying at each base camp for a certain amount of time. also, as you gain altitude, it becomes very very windy. i suggest you go on google and get some books on how to properly train your body for such an expedition.
