Chromosomes are of four types, based on the position of the centromere.
1 )) Metacentric : when chromosome is located exactly in the middle of the chromosome, dividing it into two equal arms.
2 )) Submetacemtric : when chromosome is not exactly in the middle and is slightly towards one and these chromosomes are L or J shaped.
3 )) Acrocentric : in these chromosomes, the centromere is present almost near one end so one Arm is very long while other is very short as satellite
4 )) Telocentric : in these chromosomes, the centromere is located at 1 and so there is only one arm.
