there are three Himalayan ranges.-
1: great Himalayas-composed mainly of granite in its core and it's snow bound
2. himadri or lesser Himalayas or Himachal- composed of highly compressed and altered rocks. ex. pirpanjal , dhaula dhar, Mahabharata ranges
3.Shiwalik -outermost range composed of unconsolidated sediments brought down by rivers from main Himalayan ranges.

A)the part lying between the Indus and Sutlej rivers has been traditionally known aspunjab Himalayas , but it is also known as regionally as kashmir Himalayas or himachal Himalayas from West to east, respectively.

B)the part lying between the Sutlej and kali river is known as kumaon himayayas.

C)the part lying between the kali and tista river is called Nepal Himalayas.

D)the part lying between tista and dibang river is called Assam Himalayas.

E)beyond the dihang gorge,the Himalayas bend sharply to the south and spread along the eastern boundary of india . They are known as the purvanchal or the eastern hills and mountains.
