NCERT based Answer for Class 11 Biology Students
Factors affecting transpiration:
If humidity is high, water is lost slowly into the air as a result rate of transpiration decreases.
The rate of evaporation doubles with every rise in temperature by 10°C.
High temperature, influencing closure of stomata, reduces transpiration.
High wind speed or dry air greatly increases transpiration.
Leaf with larger surface area transpires more water into the atmosphere.
Needle shaped leaves of the plants in temperate regions reduce rate of transpiration.
Leaves of desert plants have thick cuticle and sunken stomata (deep–seated) to cut down loss of water through transpiration.
Stomata close in water stressed plants to reduce rate of transpiration.
