  1. Power came from Monarchy to common people..
  2. Sense of collective belonging. Idea of fatherland and citizen emphasised the notion of a united community enjoying equal rights.
  3. A new French flag, tricolour was unfurled.
  4. Estate generals was elected by common people and it was also renamed to national assembly.
  5. New hymns were composed, oaths taken and martyrs commemmorated all in the name of nation.
  6. A centralised administrative system was put in place and it formulated uniform laws for all the citizen within its territory.
  7. Internal custom duties and dues were abolished and a uniform system of weights and measures was adopted.
  8. Regional dialects were discouraged and French ss it was spoken and written in Paris, became the common language of nation.
