Birds are born inside hard-shelled eggs. For many days to weeks they are protected and kept warm by their parent(s). This is called incubation. After they hatch, they will be fed by their parent(s). When they develop flight feathers they will learn to fly. Soon after flying they will be on their own. Next yearthey will mate and have young of their own. The cycle begins again.
