The Non-Cooperation Movement:
The Non-Cooperation Movement was a significant phase of the Indian independence movement from British rule. It was led by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi after the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and Rowlatt Act . It aimed to resist British rule in India through nonviolent means,"satyagraha". Protestors would refuse to buy British goods, adopt the use of local handicrafts and picket liquor shops. The ideas of satyagraha and nonviolence, and Gandhi's ability to rally hundreds of thousands of common citizens towards the cause of Indian independence. The Khilafat Issue was also taken up in the movement.
Gandhiji withdraw the movement because
1)Chauri Chaura incident, people turned violence.2)The people of India were not ready for the nation wide movement of mass struggle.3) Majority of the members in Indian national Congress felt that the Non -Cooperative movement is unnecessary and tiresome and they wish to participate themselves in elections .
:) Hope this Helps!!!
