Answer:

A caste in the early vedic period was a division of society based on occupation. There were four main castes or varnas - brahmins (priests), kshatriyas (warrior's), vaishyas (traders and merchants ), and shudras(labourers). Initially, people could move from one caste to another depending upon the occupation they chose. By the later vedic period, caste system became more rigid. Caste became something permanent a person was born into. Various sub castes came up within the four main castes. Caste system was also enforced as the rulers punished those who violated it. This was it's origin and establishment. Hope this helps! ❤️

Answer:

the cast system was originated in India..this was a rank given to people according to their jobs... they were classified into Brahmins, Kshatriyas, vaishya and shudras

these were assigned on the basis of the work they did.. servants, shoe makers etc were considered polluting and therefore were considered as shudras... merchants, traders etc were known as vaishyas...princes and kings were known as Kshatriyas... priests were known as Brahmins...they also thought that caste was God given...but people of the lower caste were not allowed to use the same taps as the higher cast people...all these continued until some people and the British put a stop to it...today cast system or untouchability is banned by law.
