1. The First World War produced a new dramatic scenario. Industrial production was slow to then.
2. British mills were busy with production of war to fulfill the army 's needs. Manchester declined imports into India.
3. Indian mills now had a massive supply demand in their homes.
4. As the war had been calling for prolonged Indian factories to supply were required, jute bags, mule saddlers, and many other products.
5. Many workers were hired as new factories were established and old ones ran in multiple shifts.
6. Industrial production boomed during the war years. After the war Manchester was unable to regain his old place on the Indian sector. Cotton demand plummeted, and Britain cotton textile exports declined significantly.
