Answer:

The Non-Cooperation Movement of 1920s spread to the countryside. It drew into its fold the struggles of peasants and tribals which were developing in different parts of India in the years after the war.

In Awadh, peasants were led by the Babe Ramchandra - a sanyasi who had earlier been to Fiji as an indentured labourer. The movement here was against talukdars and landlords who demanded from peasants exorbitantly high rents and a variety of other cases. Peasants had to do begar and work at landlords farm without any payment. As tenant they were regularly evicted from the field and they did not have security of tenure. On being evicted, they did not had the right to claim rights on the leased land. The peasants movement demanded reduction in revenue, abolition of begar, and social boycott of oppressive landlords. In many places nai-dhobi bandhs were organised by panchayats to deprive landlords of the services of even barbers and washerman.

In June 1920, Jawaharlal Nehru, began going around the villages in Awadh, talking to the villagers, and trying to understand their grievances. By October, the Oudh Awadh Kisan Sabha was set up headed by Jawaharlal Nehru, Baba Ramchandra and few others. Within a month, over 300 branches had been set up in the villages around the Awadh region. So when the Non-Cooperation Movement began the following year, the effort of the Congress was to integrate the Awadh peasant struggle into a wider struggle.

These were the people's participation of the Awadh region in the Non-Cooperation Movement.

Answer:

The peasants of Awadh participated in non-cooperation movement because they found that their movements cause and the cause of non-cooperation movement was having many similarities

The peasant movement in Awadh was initially started by Baba Ramchandra. The main reason for the starting of this movement was that the peasants were treated like beggars, and they were placed in situation where they were shunt of income but were prone to pay more taxes to landlords. They were demanding a relief to all these problems.

In the mean while as Gandhi started non-cooperation movement, the peasants of Awadh participated in it
