━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━When you breathe, you are taking in oxygen with each inhale and releasing carbon dioxide with each exhale. ...Respiration is the biochemical processin which the cells of an organism obtain energy by combining oxygen and glucose, resulting in the release of carbon dioxide, water, and ATP (the currency of energy in cells).

Hi!!
Here's your answer!!
When a person breathes in, air passes into the body through respiratory tract starting with the nose. The hair inside the nose trap and stop the harmful particles from entering in our body. The nose also warms the air.
From the nose, the air goes down the windpipe or trachea. From here there goes through its two smaller tubes call bronchi one of which enters each lung. The lungs are large soft organs. In the lungs each bronchus divides and redivides into fine tubes called the bronchioles. Each bronchioles ends in a number of air sacs called alveoli. Alveoli have very thin walls and are supplied with blood capillaries.
It is here that is received from the bronchi the useful gases are used and unwanted gases are forced out. Thus exchange of gases takes place in the alveoli.
Hope this helps you!!
